N2  -  Summary. Pilot study for an epidemiology of problems encountered by nurses in drug treatments of cancer patients. This contribution follows the proposal of an epidemiology of problems encountered by oncology nurses in the management of drug treatments of cancer patients. The aim of this pilot project was to develop and test the feasibility of a surveillance model able to combine quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Oncology nurses of 5 Turin hospitals were asked to report two problems in the management of drug treatments, occurred in the last 6 months. The methods for data analysis and main results are described. The data collection is easily adoptable in clinical practice and offers an epidemiology of real life situations, often without easy solutions, to be used not only to describe problems but also to offer insights for educational initiatives.
