N2  -  Summary. Obedience is not (any longer) a virtue. Disease eradication campaign often shape the progression of anti-vaccination movements. Vaccine controversies have occurred even before the introduction of vaccines: opponents question the effectiveness, safety and necessity of recommended vaccines. Italian government has made 12 vaccines mandatory for children attending school up to age 16, to combat the lack of compliance, also due to misinformation about vaccines. Information campaigns are needed to educate and inform italian population (not only on vaccines) as law and obligations are not sufficient, alone, to change cultures and practices.
