N2 - Summary. Copper surfaces and hospital acquired infections. Copper alloy surfaces significantly decrease the the bacterial burden on high-touch surfaces and in has been shown that may also reduce health care associated infections. The results of two recent studies are presented and commented on. Although additional studies are recommended to definitely confirm the association between copper surfaces and the reduction of hospital infection, the results of the studies suggest the inclusion of copper alloy surfaces in an integrated infection control strategy.
