N2  -  Summary. Robotics in elderly care. According to many experts, new robotic technologies could help to answer to the care needs of the elderly, both at home and in hospitals and nursing homes. Robots can be divided into three categories: robots with monitoring functions; so-called “assistive" robots and robots with company and therapy functions. Pros, cons and challenges of the use of robots in the general care (physical and psychosocial) of elders are discussed. Health professionals and nurses should be active part in the ongoing debate and in the epistemological reflections on ethical questions related to the conditions of use of care robots, the foundamental principles and responsibilities we have towards each other, as human beings.
